What have you been doing in 2009? We missed you on tour…
A lot of promotional trips for Billabong. I also did a couple of comps, Billabong pro on Tahiti and the Hungtion Beach QS.
You came off of a long break in competition at the Billabong Pro Tahiti; How did that effect your surfing and has it helped you prepare for your return to the tour in 2010?
Im ready, Im surfing the Tripple Crown so I will have a lot of practice to get ready for 2010.
Tell us a little about your training, I remember you saying you felt fat in Tahiti?
Ha I dont know about fat maybe a little soft. I guess when I was on tour I was surfing everyday twicw a day so when a I took this year off I was a litle more relaxed and didnt surf as much.
Any injuries?
No knock on wood I never get hurt.
3 titles under your belt, your place in surfing more than secure, what is your motivation for chasing number 4?
What ever Im doing I do 150%. So Im motivated and Im going to give it my all.
What craft are you riding, any changes or is it old faithful?
Well yeah Im trying everything right now, I have about 15 Eric Arakawa’s right now that look sick. I have some JS on the way and I have some Al Merrck’s and Ialso have some Tokoro’s.

Have you been free surfing much? Highlights? films?
Yeah I have been over on the NS (North Shore) for over a month now and there has been some really good swell. Im getting pumped to surf the tripple crown. A Billabong movie “Still Filthey” Just came out.
Has the time away tempted you to walk away from the tour?
Its been great but its been exhusting its been lots of spontanting travelsing and the tour is a set schedule so I guess the time away made me realize how much I enjoy competing. All my best friends our on tour as well.
When on the road what are 3 things you can’t live without?
Lyndie, East bound and down, First Chapter surf movie
If you weren’t surfing, what do you think you would be doing?
Golfer

Im stoked, we dont know much, but any change would be good.
You got married, bought a house and took a year off; has the Iron gone cold or is it as hot as ever?
